Fad diet? Why not! August 1, 2007
Posted by kimayars UncategorizedSo recently (as in the past few weeks) I have just felt like my body has been out of control. Powerful cravings, hungry all the time, then feeling sick and crampy after eating, tired, cranky, etc… and I can’t seem to get a grip on it. (And no, I’m not pregnant.) I was chatting with a friend and she suggested that I needed to “detox”. She e-mailed me one and said that she uses it every time she doesn’t feel quite right. According to her, it “resets her equilibrium”. So, I’m going to give it a whirl. I mean, why not? It looks safe enough. I’ve done a little research on it and it does seem to do exactly what my friend said it would. I’ve got an open mind, right?
So tomorrow I will eat nothing but fruit (excluding bananas). My guess is that this day alone will flush out the system a bit. I’ll keep you posted on how it all goes. Since my parents just brought us over 12 peaches the size of softballs, I sense that peaches will be the main part of this diet. This thing goes for 7 days, so stay tuned for what may be an interesting eating experience.
On the horseback riding front, I’ve figured out a way to “log” my riding. If I wear my Forerunner, I get the time I rode, the distance I rode, and my avg and max speed. While the speed isn’t very important, it is kind of interesting. Unfortunately, unless we go out on the trail, the map of my ride isn’t very cool, but can tell me if I’m doing a good job covering the arena (you don’t want to get stuck on one end or the other). My next ride is tomorrow, so look for some stats in my next post.
And I guess times have changed: At the gas station today I saw a spin bike on the bike carrier on an RV. If you’re going camping, why not bring the real thing?

This is awesome… I was totally reading your whole blog post, nodding my head… thinking about you on a fad diet detox thing… then picturing you riding your horse with a Forerunner on… then I get to the last paragraph… and I literally burst out with a giant LOL “Hah!”
Oh boy… that’s a good one!
Good luck with the detox. Lets us know how it goes and if you feel differently. I’ve never tried it, but try to eat whole fruits whenever I can.
Good luck with the diet. I think if all I ate were fruits in a day, I’d fly off the sugar rainbow a la Bart Simpson on a slushie rush. I’m curious to hear how it goes. It certainly should flush things!
And, I love the tale of the spin bike on a camper. Geez…did it have a tv attached to it?
hahaha, the last paragraph made me laugh out loud!
I did a detox diet, once. I always say I’ll do it again but I just can’t make myself do it! It was a juice fast, only freshly squeezed fruits and veggies for simply 3-5 days… but it’s weird not having something to chew. I wonder if your version would be easier…?
Here’s some info on the one I did (and had wonderful results with!): http://www.freedomyou.com/fasting_book/juice%20fasting.htm
Whoops… left my last comment on the wrong post! It’s on the one below to this one…
