Gack! Chrismas has kicked my butt… December 21, 2007

Christmas has officially kicked my butt.

Have I rode my horse much? No.
Have I worked out? No.
Have I made an appointment to get a PT script for my foot? No.
Have I gotten sick? Yes.
Have I eaten like it’s my last days on earth? Yes.

Put bluntly, this time of joy, peace, and love has turned me into the person that I totally don’t want to be.  The weather sucks. I feel like I’m working harder than ever and can’t get a leg up.  I see a foil-wrapped candy everywhere that calls my name.  There are so many parties with buffets that it’s REALLY hard to watch portion control.  I am failing the “Christmas test”.  But I’m an optimist…

I’m sleeping in tomorrow, and may just spend the day in my pajamas. Then, Jeff and I have our first date in a long time.  It’s kind of a “day off” so to speak.

And I still love the netti pot.

The week after Christmas we’ll try and get to the gym, even if I have to do the dreaded stationary bike.  The foot is definitely feeling like a tendonitis thing now. Treating it as such has definitely helped it.  It still quite sore still, though.

So, now is the time to pull up the bootstraps and get back to the life I was enjoying before the LVHM.  Onward!

I hear you! We have a kid playing for 2 teams, with practices 6 days a week, and 2 games. Our son has a job at the mall, which requires one of us to take him and pick him up. It’s a zoo there and he is exhausted from the Christmas rush. Our new puppy wakes me up anywhere from 3:30 am to 4:30 am usually. I’ve only worked out twice this week. I dabble a little with clients, but it isn’t the same thing. I’ve got at least 3 more parties before this whole thing is over. It is fun though! I’ll clean up the diet on 1/1, cut the sweets etc. I guess I’ll go with the flow for now. :)

You’re not alone… I think we’re all pretty much in the same boat! I’ve been slacking on workouts, but so many events and people pull you everywhere this time of year! Best of luck with the foot!!

You’re not alone — it’s kicking my butt, too! I hope you are able to enjoy the rest of the holiday season guilt-free! :)

Kim, I’ve been wondering where you were! Hang in there everybody!

I too have fallen into the “busy as heck” trap… I haven’t exercised much at all, I’ve been working till 2am almost every night… stressed about the holidays which I’m mostly ignoring, which has got me more stressed…

Adrien actually said to me this morning “What are you going to do about it!?” as in she was kicking me in the butt to get out there and start exercising again… which is what keeps me sane most of the time.

Of course she is right! Time to do something about it!

I have been feeling the same since Vegas. New dog, lots of work to be done, blah, blah, blah.

The ironic thing is that exercising usually brings me some good ephiphany about work or life. When I’m feeling stressed or stuck, exercises is the first thing I should do - instead I too often drop it out altogether.
