Two steps forward, one step back. January 28, 2008

Or maybe it’s one step forward, two steps back?

I was SO excited to work Tigs today under the guidance of my trainer. But, we woke up to 3 inches of snow. Where I live this means three things:

1. No school.
2. The arena won’t be rideable.
3. I will be ready to sell my children by 4pm.

As it turns out it’s 5pm and I haven’t put them on craigslist. At least, not yet.

So, no lesson today.

No trip to the gym.

BUT, I had a great day with the kids. We went out sledding today. In the past, this means about 20 minutes of sledding before a chorus of “I’m cold” and “This is too hard” are ringing in my ears. Instead, the girls sledded for 2 hours this morning, and another 2 hours this afternoon. AND I found a worthy opponent for a snowball fight in our 3rd grade neighbor boy. He plays baseball and has quite an arm. Luckily I haven’t forgotten all my moves from 3rd base softball. (I also play dirty. I got a couple of sideways looks from the other moms when I charged him yelling “MAN DOWN! MAN DOWN!” when he slipped into a snowbank.) I think I should be able to count that as exercise as I was breathing pretty darn hard when his mother called him in.

All-in-all, a good day, even though it wasn’t the one I had planned. More than likely school will be cancelled again tomorrow. We have 4 inches on the ground and it’s still snowing heavily. Definitely a winter wonderland. And definitley no pony time tomorrow.

Hmm…ace snowball thrower, yet another of Kim’s hidden talents! I think that you can definitely fit that under “general cardio”! Did you have have cocoa with marshmallows when you came in to warm up? Yum

Call me next tiime! The kids and I were out making snow angels and running around all morning (although Natalie’s got a little shorter tolerance than T). I stink at baseball, but I did grow up with brothers, so I know how to fight dirty in a good snowball ruckus.

:)

PS. but not tomorrow. Work calls…

Sounds like fun to me! We had 4-5 inches down here in Eugene on Sunday — almost crippled the entire city today. All but the main roads were really slippery Monday morning. No snowball fights for us yet. Evan’s only 2 1/2, but he did help me build a snow man (of sorts).
