I’mb a bid stubbed. March 2, 2008

I was supposed to go for a run with Beth and her friend Mario today. Unforunately, my head did not cooperate. I got up at 6:00 to go feed the horses, and could not breath through my nose at all. I felt fine otherwise, but was completely stopped up.  I fed the critters and headed home thinking I would drain by then. No such luck.

So at 6:30 I called Beth and left what probably was a very weird message: “Hibe Bedth. Thid id Kimb. I’mb a biddle stubbed.”

I took some Sudafed and went back to bed.  By 8:30 when I had to get up to head back to the barn, I was mostly clear.  I love drugs. Better living through pharmaceuticals, I always say.

So I headed out to ride Tigger.

I was a bit cloudy in the head, but the sunny day seemed to mitigate that.  I didn’t have the best ride, but it was okay.  He was really stiff tracking left, but we got decent canter departs.  I could only get shoulder-fore tracking right — tracking left he fought me quite a bit which is unusual. I instead took that as a sign that it was just more difficult than usual, so we used changes of direction and some large circles to work on his suppleness. Eventually, he was able to do it withought too much fuss. I have come to the conclusion that my tests on Sunday will be a train wreck.

To be honest, I didn’t know you could like a horse so much. It’s a little weird. I really feel that I would miss him horribly if he ever disappeared from my life.  He’s just cute, has a good sense of humor, and he’s a goof. I guess I tend to be drawn to the goofy-types. (Ask my husband.)
