Uphill, and then some… May 8, 2008
Posted by kimayars RunTonight for EZ8 class we ran the Snoqualmie Parkway. We start at the bottom of the hill at the fire station, then run up to Center Blvd. There is a Starbucks on the corner there. Talk about motivation. The elevation gain is about 300ft.
I was tired from the run earlier today, but held up pretty good. I had this delcious meatball stew for dinner that didn’t taste nearly as good the 2nd time around.

Beige. I think I’ll paint the ceiling beige… May 8, 2008
Posted by kimayars RunAfter some errands this morning I pretty much forced myself to go to the gym today. At 10:30am there is no one there, so I couldn’t people-watch like I normally do. I decided that I had been lacking some distance in my runs lately so I signed up for 5 miles. I adjusted the speed throughout, trying to consistently push myself but still leave enough oomph to get through it. And oh yeah, I forgot to eat breakfast this morning. Ooops.
At about 1.5 miles I was thoroughly bored. I started playing with my Sansa trying to find something on it that would motivate/distract me. I found the “You on a Diet” audio tape that I had loaded earlier this year. Then I remembered that it put me to sleep. I decided that wasn’t a wise decision. (”I don’t know, she was running right along doing fine. Next time I looked over she was draped across the console snoring.”)
Even though it was a good effort, it wasn’t really that fun. I bounced around between 6.0 and 6.7mph. I’m tired, but satisfied that it was a decent run.
I did give me a lot of time to think about Tigger. I decided that I’m going to go the bribery route. He is REALLY food motivated, so I think that type of distraction would be really good for him/me. I am going to try and schedule all my rides so that Sherene is around so a) she can hold him when I get on and b) for safety’s sake. For days she’s not around, we’ll do ground work. Hopefully with a little practice I might even be able to long-line him. I think for now that’s a good plan of attack.
