15% Completion October 19, 2008
Posted by kimayars UncategorizedI lost 3 lbs this week! Only 17 more to go…
I picked up “Enter The Zone” at the library yesterday and skimmed through it last night. It looks like a LOT of work, and I’m not sure it’s compatible with my lifestyle. But, I will read on and see what it has in store.

Why can’t this be easy? October 17, 2008
Posted by kimayars UncategorizedI didn’t track my calories today because it was a train wreck. Well, maybe more of a near-miss. When I look back on what I ate today, it doesn’t seem too bad:
- 1/2 of a nonfat latte w/ 2 sugars
- Salad with about 2 Tbs of ham and lots of veggies.
- 4 tiny puff pastries with about 1tsp of non-sweetened preserves in each
- 5 M&M’s
- Salad with sunflower seeds and 1 Tbs of Thousand Island Dressing
- 1/2 piece of baked lasagna at local restaurant.
Over all, not bad for not keeping track. It’s the lasagna I fear. I’m sure that had a gazillion little calories in it. (Oh, if only calories came in sizes. “Yes, it does have 1000 calories, but they’re the small ones.”)
I do have The Zone on hold at the library to look at. A good friend suggested I consider that lifestyle, so I’ll at least give it a look-see. At this point, anything that could help is fair game. As long as it doesn’t require me to give up coffee. Or chocolate.
Saturday I’m going to try and run 2 miles per my training plan. Although it’s raining right now. Ick. I’m not a “run in the rain” kind of girl. Where I grew up it rained ALL THE TIME (the average annual rainfall was 75″/year). And now I live in the rain shadow of the Cascade Mountains. You would think that I would be used to it after living in it for 30+ years. But no, it is still annoying to get wet. Thhhbbbttt…
Sunday morning I have a “horsey date” with Sherene to ride the ponies. I’m excited as I really enjoy riding with her. Fun for all!

Posted by kimayars UncategorizedThere is a new addition to the local strip mall in the town where I live. This strip mall contains the Starbucks that I frequent the most. As I drove by it, they were stencling a sign on one of the new office spaces. My mouth dropped open as I could clearly see the word WINE being painted. My heart raced as I realized that was going to be our new liquor store.
Coffee and liquor ON THE SAME BLOCK!! How cool is that??
Yup, sad. Yet, I wait with baited breath…
Keep your eyes on the horse… October 16, 2008
Posted by kimayars UncategorizedToday Paige did a training ride on Tigs. I had a staff meeting today, and there was no way I could ride, untack, and get changed before the meeting started.
While I’m watching Paige ride I could not take my eyes off Tigger. He just looked amazing to me. Paige is an accomplished rider (that’s an understatement) and she can really make a horse shine.
I tried REALLY hard to watch her and what she was doing with him but I kept drifting off into la-la land mummuring to myself, “Pretty pony…”
I did get some insight on some things, though. I paid attention when Paige was working on his down transitions. Basically schooling him not to quit and “fall out” of his gait. I also got some more pointers on how to help him stay flexed without overflexing him or pulling on his mouth. Paige’s observations were that he was much more even than he had been, and that he had improved a bit in the strength department. He’s filling in muscle and it looks like I can get rid of the revese wedge soon.
His feet seem fine so barefoot is working well for him right now. I’m keeping my fingers crossed!
