Hear that? It’s my STOMACH. November 3, 2008
Posted by kimayars UncategorizedGrrrrroooowwwwllll… Tummy hungry.
Actually, my first day on “The Zone” wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought. While I am hungry, and I am craving sugar, the meals themselves were pleasant. Here’s what I ate:
Breakfast: 3/4c “Cheese and Chive” Eggbeaters, 1c strawberries, 1 satsuma
Lunch: 3oz Teriyaki chicken (breast), 1/4c white rice, 1 large apple (Honeycrisp!), 1c salad with about 1tsp Miso dressing.
Snack: Kashi GoLean “Chewy Oatmeal Raisin” bar
Snack: Kashi GoLean “Crunchy Carmel Cluster” bar
Dinner: 3oz of pot roast, 1c cucumber, 1 satsuma, 1 Wasa multigrain cracker with 1tsp of hummus. (The cracker & hummus was a craving I gave into.)
So, in reviewing the day I do feel that I did not overeat. But I’m not too sure how close I am to being in “The Zone”. I think I had the protein part dialed in pretty well, but I need some standards that I can use for the carbohydrates. Even though I do this with reluctance, there are some highlights:
- Eggbeaters is DELICIOUS! I could eat those every morning. Especially the “cheese & chive!”
- I actually really enjoyed the meals. They tasted good and, except for the portion sizes, really didn’t feel like I was giving up anything or deprived.
- I’m not sure I can give up the Kashi bars. They are SUPER yummy.
So for tomorrow, I will further refine the carb side of things. I have Zone bars to try tomorrow for my snack. As much as I would like to make whole foods my snack, because of the time of day it would be pretty difficult. I also have to be careful about the bars I choose because Veronica has a severe peanut allergy (so we try and stay peanut-free in the house). Taking peanuts out of the ingredients for your bar limits your selection quite a bit. Luckily the treenuts are fine.
I have lots of tuna in the fridge. Something tells me that tuna will be on the menu for tomorrow…
And thanks so much for all the feedback and comments! It is really helping!
