Ticking them off… November 6, 2008
Posted by kimayars UncategorizedWe ticked another mile off for the Seattle Kids Marathon at Centennial Fields. This was especially entertaining because we did “The Wiggles” the whole way. You know, the moves to “Fruit Salad” and our favorite, “Hot Potato”. It was like a mobile aerobics class for me. The kids were laughing the whole entire way, yet we beat our previous time with a new PR of 21 minutes. Veronica went straight to 2 hours of gymnastics afterwards and still doesn’t seem tired. Those barbituates in her cereal must really be working…
The best part was that of course I knew a few mommies at the park. When we made our first lap one of my friends said, “Nice moves.” To which my daughter replied without missing a beat, “Oh yeah, she’s a natural.”
Er, yeah.
Samantha literally ran/danced/skipped/cartwheeled the whole entire way. Sometimes that kid never stops. I wonder if they give points for style?
The girls also got ther Kids Marathon charms and certificates today. I’m excited to dole those out when they reach their milestones.
Only one thing bothers me: Veronica pronates quite badly (just like her father). She hasn’t complained of any discomfort, but if she does I know what I’ll be working on first.
It’s supposed to rain hard tomorrow. The girls are both still adamant about going out. We might do laps around the living room instead. ![]()

Have you taken them in to a place like Super Jock and Jill to buy “real” running shoes? Brooks and Asics offers kids size versions of their shoes… We just got a pair for our kids marathoner. And the guy at the store was very thoughtful and aware of the kid appropriate shoe fitting process while still paying attention to running form. Worth considering.
