Weight Watchers, Week 1 December 29, 2008
Posted by kimayars UncategorizedI have survived week on on Weight Watchers without too many scars. I lost 1.2lbs, and that’s pretty darn good considering Christmas was in there AND I had a 54 point (yes, that’s a “5″ followed by a “4″) meal while eating out. I love my prime rib!
But I’m definitely getting into the swing of things again (I had done WW before) and the on-line tools are fantastic. I love being able to access things from my iPhone. It really helps to have that information handy.
The snow has turned to slush, and there has been no lessons and no riding for the past two weeks. I did get a chance to groom Tigger and work those itchy spots from the blanket, but other than that his only exercise has been to frolick in the snow.
Working out has also been on hold, as the kids are on break and it’s been just a pain to get them out. But I have been shoveling a lot, so the old back and rib muscles are a little tender. Next week we’ll get back on the plan.
And the snow continues… December 21, 2008
Posted by kimayars UncategorizedYup, still snowing here. Yup, still trapped in the house:
Yup, about ready to go nuts…
We did lose power for about 12 hours, so that made things a little interesting (not in a good way). We’ve seen WALL-E 5 times in the past few days. Help me…
I am totally loving the on-line Weight Watchers tools. It has really helped me curb the munchies while under house arrest.
Weight Watchers, here I come… December 20, 2008
Posted by kimayars UncategorizedHave problems tracking food, portions, etc… and when my weight got dangerously close to 160lbs (159.6) I realized I needed help. At exactly this time last year I was 20lbs lighter. Egads.
I did Weight Watchers a few years ago with some success, but hated carrying around the points tracker, the points books, and it was hard to go to the meetings. When it comes to my weight and changing my eating habits, I don’t really care for the one-on-one personal interaction. Additionally, sitting in a room with people who have 50lbs - 100lbs to lose makes you feel kind of selfish if you have only 20lbs to shed.
Last night I checked the WW site because I had heard they have a pretty decent on-line program that has a mobile component. No more sliding rules or books! All I have to do now is whip out my phone… So I joined last night. So far it looks great. It has all the things I want in an on-line tracker (I can pick grocery items or restaurant items for my meals) and it takes the guess-work out of some of the more complicated foods (like casseroles).
I feel an odd sense of relief. This morning I had a satisfying breakfast of Eggbeaters and grapes, and I know that it was a) healthy and b) within my caloric intake.
Of course, registering for an on-line weight-loss tool the eve of a major storm may have been foolish (We’re expected to get 50-70mph winds tonight coupled with temps in the low teens. Power failures are imminent, they say) but it feels good to have done SOMETHING. We have a birthday party this afternoon, but I have a renewed motivation to stay away from the cake…
Here’s to a new beginning!
Snow much fun! December 19, 2008
Posted by kimayars UncategorizedWe’ve got about 6″ of snow out here and it’s gorgeous. Not to mention no school for the kiddos. It’s been nice to hang around at the house, and as you can see the kids are a riot:
So, needless to say, going to the gym and riding my horse are on a vacation as well. Sherene assures me that Tigger is enjoying the snow.

Posted by kimayars RunYes, I get to see this very cool mountain every day. Well, when it’s not cloudy…
A cancelled riding lesson today (ground is frozen which makes it bad to ride) found me at the gym with Sherene! I will be sore tomorrow…
