About Kim

Hi!  I’m 36-year-old mother of 2 girls living in North Bend, Washington.  I’m married to a lovely, nutty man who also has his own blog on Sweat365.  Two adorable (and large) mixed-breed dogs(Cory and Cinder) and two seldom-seen hermit crabs (Fred and Ginger) round out our happy family.

When I turned 28, I realized that if I wanted to learn to ride a horse, I had better start now.  I leased a very cool Appaloosa named Ockie for 2 years, then bought an Appaloosa mare named Delta.  I owned her for 2 years before I sold her and purchased Tiago in June of 2007.

I love dressage for its precision, it’s challenges for both me and the horse, and for it’s grace. Dressage done right is stunning.

Some interesting facts about me:

I don’t want a Blackberry, either… I’m afraid of what might happen. My dad has one and says they are from the devil. (Except he loves it…!) :)

Alaska….!! Pretty neat!

I don’t like Blackberries either - nasty thorns and a devil to get rid of.
I DO have a Dodge Charger, though it is a 1970 model and has been converted to right-hand drive (Australia). LOVE your Lesson with Lisa spoof…

I saw your Pooh / Eeyore on pleasurehorse.com where someone posted a link to your blog… I read it and… talk about 6 degrees of separation… I am the owner of Ockie… Barb gave him back to me 2 years ago… He is doing great (he is 30 this year) His job right now is being an “uncle” to my yearling Appaloosa. He also has his “harem”…… Foxy a 20 year old Appaloosa and Chippy another Appaloosa and the dam to the yearling …I ride him 2-3 times a week
Sometimes I think that he will out live me….

Two of my sisters are Blackberry fiends and they love them - the problem for the rest of the family is that we never seem to see their faces anymore because they are always busy texing.

Oh well.

Kim,

Thanks the the video of bad horse days. I loved knowing that others have those kind of days. Love your web site and thanks for providing me such entertainment on this Sunday morning.

Hi there, thanks for the comment on my site. I’ve been riding since I was 4 and showed a couple of times when I was young (8-10), but no formal dressage. Nowadays I belong to a trail club that rides every Saturday morning - which I consider to be my “fun” workout for the week! I’ve come close to owning a horse, but never pulled the trigger, mostly because I love the different rides I get from switching horses periodically. Love your site and your blog style - particularly your horse stories! Though I have to take the path less travelled by other commenters and say that I LOVE my blackberry - I telecommute and it gives me peice of mind when I’m not at my desk :) mostly it keeps my boss from wondering where I am (like when I’m able to bb him while off shopping for two hours during lunch!)

I must say that I think about needing a blackberry everyday, that or an iphone. But what we can agree on is that a ‘69 Charger would be the best car to own… especially for fun. And it must be painted orange, why else own one?

Kim - I think this is the article he was talking about?

Saw your picture with your horse and just wanted hi. I had horses my whole life up until about 7 years ago. I’m very competitve and I just couldn’t give my horse the attention he deserved, as I was too busy working. I have a new life now and, next month I am taking my two step-sons, who are 8 and 10, over to my trainers ranch for riding lessons. I’m so excited. I am a trail runner now and it seems to be the next best thing to galloping my horse over the hills and through the woods. I saw that your horse had come up sore, I hope he’s o.k., I swear you could keep them in a padded cell and they’d still get hurt. Well happy trails. MBE
