200…and counting! July 4, 2008

I celebrated Independence Day by hitting 200 miles for the year today. I’m now wondering if I crank it up if I can run 500 miles for the entire year. It might be an interesting challenge… I’ll have to work out how many miles per week I have to run in order to make that goal.

Todays run was good but they’re still a little tough. Being 75 and REALLY muggy didn’t help much either. We haven’t had any lightning since yesterday, so that’s a plus.

Later today my plan is go to lunge Tigger. Riding is out of the question since there is a high likelyhood of some sort of pyrotechnics near the arena. I just really don’t feel like schooling that today and to be honest it seems a little foolish. By lunging hopefully I’ll take some of the edge off him for tonight. None of the horses will rest easy, I’m sure.

Some like it hot, but I sure don’t. :-)

Beth and I ran a little later than normal, but still early hoping to beat the heat projected for today. Unfortunately, it was already 75 by the time we finished our run.

My goal was to run for an hour today, so we left the development, ran down to the Snoqualmie Valley Trail, headed out to the golf course, and then returned. It’s a flat 6 miles, and toward the end started getting those “Ugh, I’ve been running for a long time” aches, but in general felt pretty good.

Plans for today: melt into a puddle of goo while I try and remind myself why I turned down my husband’s offer of air conditioning 2 years ago.

Beth and I finally connected and went for a long overdue run this morning.  It was a tough 4.6 miles, and I’m so glad she was there. The body is a little creaky today and she kept me running the entire way.

I met Kristi to walk this morning at the gym and decided to do something more productive.  I put some effort into the treadmill and started with 10 minutes doing the “reverse x-train” at level 5.  THOSE are some muscles I don’t use regularly.

I finished up with the 5k trainer option on the treadmill at 10min/mile.  I definitely have a little less energy at 6am than at 10am when I run with Sherene. Overall it felt good, but I was a tad pooped afterwards.

Well, I thought things were coming together… :-)

Pretty much nothing has happened since the 4th. AND, I’m a little nervous about today as I will be getting on my horse for the first time in 3 weeks. Hopefully it won’t be TOO much of a rodeo.

Missed a run yesterday, so I snuck one in while my friend Kristi walked. Just a short one, but it helped work out some of the kinks. My neck/shoulder is still acting up.
