You (Me) On A Diet
On August 19th, I embarked on a lifestyle change inspired by the book “You On A Diet” by Dr. Michael Roizen and Dr. Mehmet Oz. I had been following Dr. Oz on Oprah, and a lot of his health advice had resonated with me. So, I bought the book. (Well, actually I bought the audio book first, but I kept falling asleep while listening to it.)
I am “pleasantly plump”. I am 5′ 4″, with a medium-sized frame. I wear a size 10-with-lycra pants. At my heaviest in January of 2006, I weighed 170lbs. I now weigh 150lbs.
This page is dedicated to my progress. My ultimate goal is to reach a size 8. Instead of focusing on my poundage, I’m going to focus on my waist size. Realistically, that is what really matters to me. An excellent example is that in spring of 2007, I had a 31″ waist. My weight hasn’t changed much, but my midsection has blossomed to a lovely 37″.
I eventually reached 142.5lbs, a 32.5″ waist, and 36″ hips. It’s now June 3rd, and I’ve lost all progress. So, we try again…
| Date | Weight | Waist | Hips |
| June 3rd | 151 lbs | 38.50in | 41.00in |
| TOTALS | 0.0 lbs | 0.0in | 0.0in |

Good for you! 20 lbs lost since 1/2006. Kudos on that. And, what is it with our waists expanding when our weight doesn’t change? I thought that only happened to me! I can’t tell you how often I’ve noticed a waistband getting tight & then hopped on the scale to see no change. But I *know* when my clothes are suddenly “shrinking”. What’s up with that?
Keep up the good work. You are fabulous!
Keep up the good work! I love Dr. Oz! His book is amazing and they have a column in Readers Digest which is always fun to read too! He explains things in terms we all understand, not high profile medical terms we are at a loss to understand!
Wow… good for you on the first 20lbs lost! I am 5′3″ (I think?) and I weigh 146lbs… so I think we’re right in the same boat! I also wear a size 10 (sometimes 11/12) and am pleasantly plump. (sigh)
That’s cool… it’s awesome to see someone else with the same goals!

Hey — congrats on the 5lb loss!
Keep it up. You’re doing great!
The lost inches is IMPRESSIVE! I totally agree with your point about tracking multiple stats. Weight fluctuations can be deceptive.
You’ve really done a great job dropping weight/sizes/inches. I’m trying to lose too. It’s hard - but seeing your progress really helps!
I just stumbled into this page, and I gotta say that the metrics are quite impressive. Keep up the good work!
